馬英九總統28日接見「美國百人會」致詞時，再度駁斥反對派對他「親中賣台」的批評。馬總統說，他的做法完全是根據憲法與國家利益，對陸關係改善後，與其他國家關係也改善了；「國際參與有增加、兩岸關係有增進，這兩種關係相輔相成，良性循環」。
馬總統先向訪賓提及台美關係的進展，他說，解決美牛問題後，美牛今年進口已恢復到41%，3月美方副貿易代表台，未來雙方將在TIFA架構下，開始從雙邊投資協定開始談，美方也予我國免簽待遇。
總統說，希望台灣能加入跨太平洋夥伴協定（TPP），現已先跟紐西蘭簽台紐經濟合作協定（ANZTEC），跟新加坡也很快就要簽了，希望台灣在區域整合中，不會被邊緣化。
馬總統表示，去年提出東海和平倡議後，台日、台菲間也解決了漁業方面的爭議，美方高度肯定，他過境紐約時，與美行政立法部門通電話，對於我國能用和平方式解決，促進東海和平，美方感到欣慰。
接著，總統談到兩岸關係，他說，他上任前沒有班機直航，現在已增加到每天95班，還有快輪在跑，大陸航點增至54個，雙方關係愈來愈密切，並希望在對方的領域互設機構。
馬總統表示，我國讓整個台灣海峽改變了，今年是韓戰停戰60周年，最近北韓還宣布停戰協議無效，那地方戰雲密佈，台海過去也是火藥庫，金門在55年前的8月，中共發射47萬發砲彈，或在金門島上，現在島上卻都是陸客，賣的是砲彈製的菜刀，變化很大。 (接下一頁)
