bruno mars是在夏威夷出生和長大，擁有菲律賓血統。來自音樂世家的他，家中有六個孩子，自小受音樂的薰陶(包含混音雷鬼、搖滾、嘻哈、r&b)，從小就喜歡學著名人唱唱跳跳，例如麥可傑克森及貓王。1990年，bruno mars受周刊精選為＂小貓王＂，2003年17歲的他，順利從高中畢業，並移居洛杉磯追尋自己的音樂夢想。
