2002年剛開始開放
只是要區分輕型、重型、大重

所以分出綠色白色與黃色

後來因為原本加入WTO協定時
與其他國家有協定要有計畫的讓重型機車能夠上國道與其他快速道路
但要以甚麼為基準?原本是訂在小排氣量小客車同等級的1300CC
但是經過前輩的努力加上SMART這個異端四輪的出現

讓可上國道與快速道路的限制被壓低到550CC

要區分清一色黃牌的大型重機，才出現了紅牌

經過以上的故事告訴我們
政府做事完全是隨波逐流沒有計畫、沒有科學根據、有考察卻沒腦抄襲
敷衍沒有誠意....

汽車沒有分級是因為
只要是四個輪子不管馬力多小、排氣量多小
都可以上快速跟國道的關係不需要區分
所以統一為白色
