粉絲聚集哀悼　家屬：痛徹心扉

菲力普西摩霍夫曼位於曼哈頓的公寓樓下，出現大批粉絲和媒體，他的家人也發表聲明表示「摯愛的菲爾逝世讓我們痛徹心扉，對於不斷湧來的關懷和支持我們相當感激，這是個悲劇，我們希望大家在這段哀悼的時間，尊重我們的隱私」。

根據CNN報導指出，一名和霍夫曼一起工作的編劇發現他倒在浴室中，當時他穿戴整齊，手臂上還插有針筒，並發現數包疑似海洛因，媒體研判可能是死於藥物過量，不過確切死因還有待進一步調查。

諷刺的是1日網路上才傳出霍夫曼死亡的假消息，霍夫曼的代表還特別發聲明澄清，霍夫曼去年5月接受八卦雜誌TMZ訪問時坦承，在勒戒23年後，開始吸食海洛因，一周後發現自己需要幫助，便自動到戒毒中心報到，在那裡待了10天，獲得相當大的幫助。（周佩萱／綜合外電報導）
