屏東綠竹筍正逢盛產期，清脆爽口甜美，是夏季最新鮮的滋味，屏東市海豐社區吳順福及吳正忠父子聯手開創竹筍產業，設立勝貿合作社收集社員及農民交來的竹筍，經選別及分級送到市場及行口，有些加工成桶筍或涼拌竹筍，竹筍含有豐富的纖維質及維他命，熱量低，常被當成瘦食佳餚，現在盛產，嘗鮮正得時。
屏東縣政府農業處表示，綠竹筍一年四季都可生產，但以農曆年過後到10月為主要產期，屏東夏季綠竹筍產季最早，主要分佈在長治、鹽埔、屏東海豐一帶，面積約450公頃。
吳順福說，從事竹筍事業30幾年，自己種了3分多地，但現在工作忙都委託別人管理，自己專心集貨，他說，海豐一帶沙質土壤非常適合種植綠竹筍，而且竹林不能太密，充足陽光照射，適當肥培管理，品質才會更好。
35歲的兒子吳正忠學校畢業後就留在家裡幫忙，他說，綠竹筍可分成六級，以筍基部寬廣矮胖厚實區分，彎曲如牛角形品質較優，筍農清晨3、4點就會出門採筍，當筍芽還未露出土面，而且清晨露水滲入筍肉裡，吃起來才有香甜滋味。吳正忠每天都要到每塊筍田，幫農民採收下來的竹筍載運到集貨場，一天量約3、4公噸，目前價格依品質每台斤約30-50元上下。
竹筍進場先剝去外殼，簡單清洗後要先浸泡在大水桶裡，以免纖維變粗，有些煮熟製成桶筍，有些冷藏製成涼筍，小包裝直接食用，味道爽口清涼。
吳順福說，農忙時期僱請１０幾個工人幫忙，幾乎從早忙到晚，連假日都不得休息，因為竹筍每天都會冒出來，今天沒採，過一天轉綠，就沒有商品價值了。
