天空滿是黑雲，呼呼刮著大風，風速每秒34公尺，暴雨傾盆，全部『籠罩』天河機場……，天河機場遭遇開航以來最惡劣天氣，短短15分鐘裡，風力達12級，直接掀翻機場的屋頂，波音客機撞上廊橋，4噸客梯車被掀『肚皮朝上』。
抬頭一看機場屋頂『光』了
根據新聞媒體報導，『就在我頭上，房頂被掀了，泡沫飛得到處是！』乘客王先生回憶說，晚6點多，他在第二航站樓A指廊候機廳看到，窗外突然飄出很多白黃色泡沫材料，越來越多，跑道、走廊上全都有。往上一看，屋頂上面白白的，看不見金屬板，只有一層玻璃了。
搭乘武漢—成都CA4588航班的宋先生說，他在國航貴賓室休息，突然聽到屋頂一聲巨響，一個頂燈直接掉下來了，過了幾分鐘，屋裡到處在漏雨，地面都積水了。他們只能去外面休息。
230多噸客機風中轉圈
據博友報料：晚6點多，機場大風越來越大，客機都在打轉，看著飛機自己在轉圈，有的機翼撞向登機廊橋。
記者了解到，多架客機在大風中發生自轉，並造成一些損傷。一架波音737—800客機停留在A指廊登機口，因大風作用，機體發生轉動，機翼撞上廊橋口，造成機翼受損。趁風勢變小，機場派拖車將飛機拖離，廊橋搶修後，恢復使用。
天河機場機務員說，這架客機自重有230多噸，竟然被風刮得轉，這輩子都沒見過。在貨運機場，兩架友和道通的波音747客機也受損，在大風中被刮得轉了一大圈，機翼直接撞上附近鐵桿上。
一輛停靠南航客機旁邊的4噸重機場客梯車，被大風刮得翻了車，多虧車身『卡』在旁邊的箱子上，沒有撞向南航客機。
