612轟重砲湯米退休　預約2018年名人堂

生涯612轟，大聯盟史上排名第7，5度入選明星賽的重砲湯米(Jim Thome)今天與印地安人簽下象徵榮譽的1日合約後，正式宣布退休。印地安人也為湯米塑造8呎銅像，今天賽前舉行揭幕儀式。
 
湯米下個月就要滿44歲，他最後1次上大聯盟是在2012年效力金鶯，過去1年多，他仍努力想要重返大聯盟，但都未能如願。只好與老東家印地安人簽下1日合約，球員生涯正式落幕，他曾公開表態，有興趣擔任大聯盟的總教練。
 
22年聯盟生涯，湯米效力過6支球隊，1991至2002年，生涯前12年都效力印地安人，2011年曾短暫回鍋，至今保有生涯337轟與單季52轟(2002)2項印地安人隊史紀錄。
 
大聯盟球員退休滿5年後才能獲得名人堂提名，湯米最快2018年能獲得提名，印地安人球衣是他最佳選擇，他說：「我同意，百分百確定。」(王覺一／綜合報導)
