中橫公路中斷近20天，原本預計8月15日搶通開放小型車通行，今天中午提早通車，僅限中小型車單線行駛，大型車預計20日才能通行。

公路總局洛韶工務段長傅立祥表示，中橫白沙橋路段7月23日遭麥德姆颱風重創，工程單位加緊搶修，將於8月20日恢復包括遊覽車在內的大型車單線通行，4個月後才能恢復雙線雙向通行。

傅立祥說，此路段反覆坍方，徹底解決之道是興築隧道橋，避開岩壁容易塌坍的路段；隧道橋預計年底動工，工期長達兩年。

現階段白沙橋路段採臨時通道，有150公尺長的路段路幅只有5到6公尺，白天採人工機動施工管制，夜晚以燈號控管。(中央社)
