義大利首都羅馬市內一條穿越古羅馬廣場、通往競技場的道路─帝國廣場路，3日開始禁止私人車輛通行，作為將該區劃為徒步區的第一階段。由於當地是電影「羅馬假期」中葛雷哥萊畢克騎著偉士牌機車載著奧黛莉赫本所經過的路線，許多民眾趕在封路之前騎車或開車繞行競技場，高鳴喇叭，並拍照留念。遭封閉的路段長1.1公里，從維克多．艾曼鈕紀念堂通往競技場。羅馬市長馬利洛希望最終能將這整片區域改為古蹟公園。
